Night works are scheduled to commence on Monday 12 November, weather permitting, as part of the NZ Transport Agency's project to signalise the Welcome Bay and Maungatapu roundabouts.
The work being undertaken involves upgrading the road surface between the two roundabouts.
NZTA project manager Kevin Reid said the work is being carried out at night to minimise the impact on traffic particularly the congestion that occurs at peak times during the day. Lane closures will be in place from 7.00pm each night until 6.00am the following morning while the work proceeds.
Mr Reid said he expected that the work will take about four weeks to complete. The night works would be notified in advance on SH29 using road side information signs.
