Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that night works will be carried out on the Bay Link project site from Sunday 24 May to Tuesday 26 May.
Work is scheduled over three nights, including barrier maintenance work and the removal of sheet piles from inside the Bayfair roundabout. This is part of the recent stormwater pipe diversion works.
To minimise disruption to motorists, work will take place between 8pm and 5am.
On Sunday 24 May, there will be a left lane closure on State Highway 29A eastbound. A 50km/h temporary speed limit is in place on State Highway 29A near Baypark.
On Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 May, there will be a right lane closure around the Maunganui/Girven Road roundabout and right lane closures on all four approaches to the roundabout. There will be a temporary speed limit of 30km/h in place around the Bayfair roundabout for the duration of these works.
Road users are advised to travel with caution through the project site, drive to the conditions, reduce speed and follow the directions of road workers and signage.
While Waka Kotahi endeavours to minimise any disturbance for local residents, this work may generate some noise and vibration.
In the event of unsuitable weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work will be carried out on the next suitable night/s. Motorists are encouraged to visit journeys.nzta.govt.nz(external link) for up to date information on road works, traffic, detours and delays.
At Alert Level 2, significantly more people are using their cars and public transport. It’s important to plan ahead and allow more time for your journeys. Remember to be kind to others, as we all get used to travelling at Alert Level 2.
Waka Kotahi thanks road users and local residents for their patience.
