Road users and residents need to be ready for night works and road closures as road crews carry out maintenance work on State Highway 58, Paremata Road next week.
Night closures are planned for Sunday, 6 October, Monday, 7 October, Wednesday, 9 October, and Thursday, 10 October.
Three separate sites will be worked on during the week. These include Joseph Banks Drive to James Cook Drive, James Cook Drive to Postgate Drive and Postgate Drive to State Highway 59 Whitford Brown Avenue.
This is essential maintenance work to clear drains and channels to reduce the risk of surface flooding, rockfalls and slips.
An electrical team will also be on-site to replace sodium lights with LEDs, install light controllers to allow remote access monitoring and perform other general electrical maintenance to ensure lights are working well. Other activities to keep vegetation under control will also be underway.
Combining these works under a full road closure helps keep crews and road users safe. It also allows work to be completed faster, reducing overall disruption for the public.
State Highway 58 will be closed between 9 pm and 4 am while work is underway. Traffic management will be set up from 8 pm and drivers can expect travel delays while this is underway.
Local road detours will be available for all traffic. Resident access will be maintained during the closures
NZTA and the Wellington Transport Alliance understand that full closures can be disruptive and that detours do add to travel times. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
State Highway 58 between Pāuatahanui and Paremata is a critical transport link that carries more than 16,000 vehicles daily. Regular maintenance is essential to ensure it remains resilient and accessible to road users and residents.
Road users and residents are urged to plan ahead for these works. Please allow extra time for your journeys while the closures and detours are in place.
