Night time works starting this Sunday on SH29 near the Kaimais.
Motorists travelling along State Highway 29 (SH29) are advised night time resurfacing work will be carried out at three sites between Tauriko and the Kaimai summit as part of a road safety improvement project says the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA).
The work starts on Sunday (5 May) and be undertaken over ten days, a temporary speed restriction of 30km/h will be in place along with a manual stop/go operation from 7.00pm to 6.00am so drivers can expect minor delays.
Resurfacing ensures the friction of the road is high so when a vehicle stops suddenly the stopping distance is greatly reduced.
A temporary speed restriction of 70km/h will be in place during daylight hours and will be removed once the resurfacing work is completed.
This work is weather dependent, and if it is wet the work will be take place on the next suitable day.
