Good progress is being made on building a new roundabout at the State Highway 6, Bells and St Leonards Road intersection.
Good progress is being made on building a new roundabout at the State Highway 6, Bells and St Leonards Road intersection.
Stage 1 of the project started on 16 January and is set to finish earlier than anticipated.
Crews have completed excavating, widening, and reinstating the eastbound lane. They have also installed subsoil drainage, relocated services, and built a new kerb and channel.
Preparation for sealing is underway and is planned for Saturday, 17 February, weather permitting. If this can be completed this weekend, Stage two works will start on 19 February and continue until mid-April.
Stage two will see similar work done for the westbound lane (travelling from Blenheim to Renwick). It will include the construction of the concrete roundabout and medians.
While this work is underway, State Highway 6 will still be closed in ONE direction. People travelling from Nelson/Renwick to Blenheim direction must take a detour.
Bells Road at the intersection of SH6 is also closed. Those living on Bells Road will need to take a detour.
If travelling to Blenheim, people living on Bells Road need to use New Renwick Road and Battys Road. If they travel towards Renwick/Nelson, they will go via New Renwick Road and Godfrey Road.
Works will take place between 7 am and 7 pm. Residents close to the work site may experience some noise, lights, and vibration while the work is undertaken. We’ll do our best to minimise disruption where possible and appreciate your understanding.
Plan ahead and expect minor delays when travelling on State Highway 6. Emergency services will always be accommodated.
