The newly created right turn bay on State Highway one will make it safer and easier for people to access Keeley’s Recreational Reserve on Lake Karapiro.
The NZ Transport Agency is urging drivers travelling in the area to take extra care while everyone gets used to the new road layout.
This work is part of a project to make SH1 between Cambridge and Piarere safer.
Other improvements planned for the road include a wide centreline, roadside safety barriers at high-risk locations and an intersection speed zone at the SH29/SH1 intersection.
