National bike challenge to return in February

|

The Aotearoa Bike Challenge is returning for its second year on Thursday 1 February 2018.

The month-long workplace challenge encourages New Zealanders to make everyday trips by bike, with tailored guidance and tips and the chance to win some great prizes.

The Aotearoa Bike Challenge is based on the global Love to Ride platform, which was brought to New Zealand by the NZ Transport Agency as part of the Government’s commitment to making cycling a safer and more attractive transport choice for New Zealanders.

The first Aotearoa Bike Challenge took place in February 2017, with more than 14,000 people from over 1,000 organisations taking part, including almost 4,000 new riders.

Challenge participants made more than 150,000 trips by bike, cycling nearly 2 million kilometres. This year, the NZ Transport Agency wants to get even more New Zealanders involved!

The challenge is a great way for your readers to get fitter and healthier in 2018. We can set up interviews with a cycling expert and a spokesperson from an organisation that took part in 2017 to speak about the benefits the challenge offers and why they would encourage people to take part in 2018.
