6pm update: Mount Victoria Tunnel (SH1) has now reopened to all traffic. The crash scene was cleared shortly after 6 pm.
5.27pm traffic bulletin:
Due to a multi-vehicle crash, the Mount Victoria Tunnel is currently closed in both directions.
Contractors and emergency services are attending. Road users are asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes between the city and Kilbirnie/Miramar Peninsula.
The tunnel will remain closed until the crash scene is cleared.
