The NZ Transport Agency wishes to advise motorists there will be resurfacing work at various locations on SH1 between Oteha Valley Road and the Orewa Interchange, starting Sunday 15 November 2009.
The work will be carried out at night between 8.00pm and 6.00am, when traffic volumes are light and there is the least disruption for road users. Works are expected to take around 4 weeks. During this time, there will be closures to both northbound and southbound lanes, on and off ramp closures. All work is weather dependant.
We ask that drivers take extra care when passing through the work site, and stay within the sign posted speed limit. Speed will be restricted 24 hours a day during the work period. Night time speeds will be 30kmph and day time speeds will be between 30 – 50kmph. This is to ensure the safety of our workers, and to make sure the road surface settles properly.
SPECIAL NOTE: Truck drivers, please keep to the right hand (fast lane) at all times during these periods as your weight will damage the sub-surface before the new seal goes on.
Road users can get up-to-date information from the NZTA website, the public notice section of each Saturday’s NZ Herald, or if you are travelling on a specific day and require more information, please call 09 5200 200.
These works are important to ensure the motorway is kept in good condition, improving safety and ride comfort for road users, and minimising road noise through the area.
NZTA thanks you for your patience while we carry out work in this area.
