Motorists are being warned of delays on State Highway 7 near Omoto from tomorrow (9 September) with the laying of new sewer pipes by the Greymouth District Council.
The NZ Transport Agency’s Regional Performance Manager Pete Connors says about 900m of pipe will be laid from McKendries Corner to Greymouth.
“This work was delayed last month after it was originally planned to close the highway, from the Cobden Bridge to Kaiata, to complete the work.
“In discussions last week to revisit the works programme, it was agreed the highway could be kept open to single-lane traffic while the work was carried out.”
Mr Connors says the traffic will be manually controlled to ensure there are minimal delays and traffic keeps moving.
The work is expected to take two weeks to complete, depending on weather and ground conditions.
