Motorists asked to drive with extra care after heavy rain in Coromandel

|

The NZ Transport Agency is asking motorists to drive with care after the heavy rain in the Coromandel over the weekend.

State Highway 25 Tairua to Whangamata in the Duck Creek area remains closed due to flooding. The water isn’t expected to subside until after high tide tonight.

The Transport Agency’s Regional Performance Manager Karen Boyt says the agency’s contractors are out taking part in the clean-up.

“There have been a number of slips, some flooding and trees down in the Coromandel over the weekend and we need motorists to take extra care out there.

“We would like to thank drivers for their patience so far and ask them to continue to drive to the conditions and obey all road signs.”

The wet weather has caused some potholes to form in the Coromandel area. Transport Agency contractors are currently carrying out repairs. If motorists see large potholes they are encouraged to report them using the free phone number 0800 4 HIGHWAYS.
