The Transport Agency is carrying out further work from next week to increase safety at the Nevis Bluff above State highway 6 about half way between Cromwell and Queenstown.
Contractors will be on the site from Wednesday, 27 November 2013.
Transport Agency Project Manager John Jarvis says the job involves abseil inspections, detailed geological mapping, rock fall and ground investigations, and helicopter sluicing to remove loose debris. The work is part of the on-going safety and monitoring programme the Transport Agency has in place for the Nevis Bluff, to help ensure the safety and security of this important road link.
“Safety will be paramount while this work is carried out and that means some disruptions for drivers are unavoidable.”
Delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected on weekdays between 8:00am and 5:00pm from Wednesday 27 November through to Friday 13 December 2013, subject to weather conditions. We thank motorists for their patience while this important safety work is carried out Mr Jarvis said.
