More safety improvement work at the Nevis Bluff

|

Safety improvement work will start later this week at the Nevis Bluff above State highway 6 about half way between Cromwell and Queenstown.

NZ Transport Agency Project Manager John Jarvis says the work starting on Thursday 8 November 2012, is part of on-going safety and monitoring of the Nevis Bluff. This job involves abseil inspections, detailed geological mapping of two rock features and helicopter sluicing to remove loose debris.

“Road user safety is paramount while this work is carried out, so some hold ups for motorists are unavoidable.”

Delays of up to 10 minutes delays can be expected on weekdays between 8:00am and 5:00pm from Thursday 8 November through to Friday 23 November 2012, subject to weather conditions. We thank motorists for their patience while this important safety work is carried out Mr Jarvis said.

Regular work updates will be available by calling 0800 44 44 49 or at the NZ Transport Agency highway information website at www.highwayinfo.govt.nz(external link).
