The NZ Transport Agency will be carrying out minor slip repairs as well as an extension of the guardrail on the rail bridge at State Highway 1 in Kauri, north of Whangarei.
The work to fix the road shoulder that has subsided and replace part of the existing guardrail on the southern side of the bridge will begin today (24 August) and continue until Wednesday (26 August).
A short detour is in place for southbound traffic via Saleyards Road.
The detour is not suitable for large freight vehicles and so the drivers of all HPMV vehicles should make themselves known to traffic control staff at the northern end of Saleyards Road, and they will able to continue through the work site on SH1.
