The NZ Transport Agency is advising that motorists can expect minor delays from around 7pm tonight as temporary traffic management will be in place on State Highway 1 from the bottom of Pukerua Bay Hill to just south of the Fisherman’s Table Restaurant at Paekakariki. The traffic management is needed to allow repair work on a nearby seawall and footpath, and to clear debris from the highway following the weekend’s storms.
From 7pm stop/go traffic management will be in place just south of the Fisherman’s Table Restaurant area. When this work is finished mobile lane closures will be used along the full length of the road from the wire rope barrier section at Pukerua Bay to the Fisherman’s Table Restaurant.
The temporary path reinstatement is expected to be in place by the morning of Tuesday 26 July, meaning that the path will be opened again. More permanent strengthening work will be programmed for a later date, with the impacts on the state highway and the footpath communicated to the local community well in advance.
