Matata and Te Teko resurfacing works next week

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises resurfacing works at three sites in and around Matata and Te Teko will get underway from Sunday.

Delays are expected and motorists are asked to drive with caution.

  • State Highway 2, intersection of Arawa Street and Pakeha Street, Matata
These works will take place between 8am and 6pm on Sunday 10 and Monday 11 May. There will be a temporary speed limit of 30km/hour in place during the works.
During the work, the road will be closed on SH2 Pakeha Street, from Mair Street to the SH2 Arawa intersection. All vehicles must follow the signed detour route on SH2 Pakeha Street, via Mair Street, and onto SH2 Arawa Street.
  • State Highway 30/34 intersections at Military Road and Kawerau Road
Stop/Go traffic management will be in place between 8am and 6pm during the days of Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13, Thursday 14 and Friday 15 May.
There will be a temporary speed limit of 30km/hour in place during the works.

Waka Kotahi reminds motorists that work practices at Alert Level 3 do not look like pre-pandemic work. A range of new measures are in place to ensure this work can be done safely.

Motorists are asked to travel carefully through work sites to ensure the safety of themselves, other road users and road workers.

These works are weather dependent and may need to be postponed. Motorists are encouraged to visit journeys.nzta.govt.nz(external link) for up to date information on road works, traffic, detours and delays.

The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience.
