The NZ Transport Agency will be undertaking essential maintenance works this week in the Lyttelton Tunnel from 9pm to 3am, Thursday evening through to Friday morning, 18 - 19 August.
The night-time works will place restrictions on traffic flows, and the movement of dangerous goods will not be allowed.
Normal traffic will be restricted to single lane operation for the hours stated, so drivers should build in extra time as some delays are expected.
Dangerous goods/ fuel tanker movements which require tunnel closures will be restricted to before and after the work starts and ends - 7.00pm – 9.00pm (Thursday evening) and 3.00am – 7.00am (Friday morning).
The Transport Agency thanks all Lyttelton and Port of Lyttelton drivers for being so patient in recent weeks as important maintenance and cleaning tasks were done on a number of nights, some of which were at short notice and additional to the ones advertised in advance.
