Weather alerts
- In the South Island, a Heavy Rain Watch has been issued for Tasman, west of Motueka, for late Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. This will affect people travelling on State Highway 60 in Tākaka and Golden Bay. A similar warning also applies to the Richmond/Bryant Ranges and the Rai Valley. This will affect State Highway 6 between Hira and Havelock.
- A Strong Wind Watch is in force for the North Island for Wellington from Saturday night until early Sunday morning. Drivers using exposed routes such as State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill and Wainui Saddle on State Highway 1 Transmission Gully must drive to the conditions and take extra care. Meanwhile, Horowhenua, Manawatu and northern Wairarapa drivers need to be ready for wet and slippery roads with a Heavy Rain Warning for the Tararua Ranges on Saturday night.
- Drivers must be ready for the bad weather and the hazards it can bring – slips, rock and tree falls, wind-blown debris, and localised flooding. Please check road and weather conditions before you travel.
Lower North Island
- Regular users of State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill need to be ready for a week of night closures beginning this Sunday night.
- In the Hutt Valley, the first phase of five weeks of resurfacing and night works begins on State Highway 2
- Recent wet weather means one more night of work is needed to complete resurfacing work on State Highway 2 in Masterton.
Top of the South Island
- Drivers can expect short delays travelling between Havelock and the Rai Valley on State Highway 6 during the week. Contractors are replacing a culvert at Pelorus. Stop/Go traffic management will be in place Monday to Friday between 7:30 am and 5 pm.
- Underslip repairs continue on State Highway 60 Tākaka Hill. The road remains restricted to one lane under stop/go traffic management until the work is completed
