The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (21 May 2023).
Important information for road users:
South Island:
- Maintenance work is underway on State Highway 6, Whangamoa.
- There is a changed traffic layout on local roads for travellers using the Picton ferries.
North Island:
- Asphalt resurfacing and essential maintenance is being done on State Highway 58 between Pāuatahanui and Paremata on Monday and Tuesday.
- Lane closures are planned for State Highway 1 - Te Aranui o Te Rangihaeata/Transmission Gully between the Pāuatahanui roundabout and the State Highway 58 interchange from Sunday, 21 May for 18 nights.
- Wairarapa drivers can expect extra traffic at the safety improvement project site on State Highway 2, Masterton to Carterton, while the Carterton District Council closes Hughes Line for urgent repairs.
