Important information for drivers:
North Island
- The Metservice has issued heavy rain warnings for Wellington, Kapiti Coast, Wairarapa and the Tararua Ranges for Saturday. Drivers are encouraged to check road and weather conditions before they travel and to make sure they drive to the conditions.

- A busy summer beckons for State Highway maintenance in Wellington and Wairarapa
- Asphalting and resurfacing works continue on State Highway 1 and State Highway 2. On Monday and Tuesday nights, there will be offramp and directional closures at State Highway Johnsonville. Closures are also planned for State Highway 2 Melling Link to Dowse Drive on Wednesday and Thursday night and at State Highway 2 south of Whakatiki Street to Silverstream on Sunday night.
South Island
- Heavy rain warnings are in place for the top of the South Island for Friday (22 Sept) and Saturday (23 Sept). This coincides with the start of school holidays, and drivers must take extra care on the roads. For those travelling further south, please be aware that there are rain, wind, and snow warnings in place and the potential for travel disruptions.
- There are night closures planned for State Highway 6 Hope Saddle and State Highway 1 Weld Pass next month.
