Weather Alerts:
- Weather warnings are in place for both the lower North Island and upper South Island for Friday and Saturday (23-24 August). The Metservice has issued a Heavy Rain Warning for Tasman west of Motueka, and a Heavy Rain Watch for the Richmond/Bryant ranges and the Rai Valley. A Strong Wind Watch covers Wellington, and a Heavy Rain Warning is in Force for the Tararua Ranges.
- Drivers must take extra care on the roads and be ready for hazardous conditions. Please check road and weather conditions before you travel as bad weather can see roads closed at short notice.
Lower North Island
- The next round of night closures for maintenance on State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill begins on 1 September. The schedule of upcoming closures for the rest of the year is now available.
- Resurfacing work will be underway in Masterton from this Sunday for the roundabout at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Queen and Dixon Streets.
- Night closures are planned for maintenance work on State Highway 2 Masterton to Carterton
Top of the South Island
- Underslip repairs begin on Monday for an underslip on State Highway 60, Tākaka Hill
