Important information for drivers.
Lower North Island
- Nightworks are planned on State Highway 58 over the coming month as contractors lay the final road surface between Harris and Moonshine Roads.
- Full northbound closures will also be in place on State Highway 2 near Petone while permanent barriers are installed at the Cornish Street intersection.
- In Wairarapa, the Tauwharenīkau Bridge on State Highway 53 between Featherston and Martinborough will be closed during the day from 29 April to early June for essential maintenance. Rehabilitation works continue on State Highway 2 Chapel Street in Masterton. Drivers heading through Masterton must factor these works into their travel plans.
Top of the South Island
- A closure originally planned for next week for repairs of the Newton River Bridge on State Highway 6 in the Upper Buller Gorge has been postponed. The highway will be open. Details of revised dates for this work will be provided once they are confirmed.
- New pedestrian refuges will be built on State Highway 6 in Nelson in May. They will be installed at two locations: one on Annesbrook Drive and another on Tāhunanui Drive.
