The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (16 April 2023).
Other important information for road users:
- Night works for resurfacing of State Highway 60 through Tākaka have been completed. However, contractors will continue this maintenance work on this stretch of road during the day, 7.30 am to 6 pm, until 12 May.
- In Wellington on Sunday, 16 April drivers can expect to see a helicopter lift operation during a closure of State Highway 1 Terrace offramp. This is for the removal and installation of units in nearby buildings.
- Drivers in the Marlborough region still need to be aware the annual grape harvest is continuing and they should look out for harvesting equipment on the region’s roads.
- There is also a changed traffic layout on local roads for travellers using the Picton ferries.
- Regular users of State Highway 58 between the Hutt Valley and Pauatahanui need to be getting ready for a full weekend closure from 28 April to 1 May. This will see an increase in traffic using State Highway 1 and State Highway 2.
Further details about regional state highway conditions and roadworks are also published on our website:
NOTE: Roadworks are dependent on weather and other factors. If bad weather should strike, work will be postponed to the next suitable night in the works programme.
