The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (9 April 2023).
Other important information for road users:
- Drivers in the Marlborough region will need to be aware of the annual grape harvest is continuing and they should look out for harvesting equipment on the region’s roads.
- There is also a changed traffic layout on local roads for travellers using the Picton ferries.
- Drivers travelling over Easter are encouraged to plan ahead. The Waka Kotahi Holiday Journey Planner is a handy tool to work out when peak travel times (and delays and congestion) will be. Advice from earlier this week also identifies areas and events to watch out for.
- Regular users of State Highway 2, Remutaka Hill should also be planning ahead for the next scheduled maintenance closure on 16 April.
Further details about regional state highway conditions and roadworks are also published on our website:
NOTE: Roadworks are dependent on weather and other factors. If bad weather should strike, work will be postponed to the next suitable night in the works programme.
