Lower North Island/Upper South Island - Planned state highway roadworks

Lower North Island

• There will be a closure on State Highway 53 from Tuesday next week as repairs begin on the Tauwharenikau Bridge. Local road detours will be available.
  • Repairs and closure planned for Tauwharenikau Bridge – State Highway 53
• Wellington drivers need to plan ahead for night closures and resurfacing works planned for the urban motorway in February.
  • Major road works planned for the Wellington urban motorway next month

Top of the South Island

• There are two projects planned for State Highway 6 on Whakatu Drive and on the Whangamoa Hill in February that drivers need to be aware of and to plan for. Both will require night closures at work sites.
