Important information for drivers.
North Island:
- Work to repair a slump site on State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill is on track to be finished before Christmas. Also, if you are regular user of the route, make sure you put the 2024 Remutaka Hill planned maintenance closure dates in your diary.
- The annual Thorndon Fair will see part of Tinakori Road closed on Sunday, 3 December between 7 am and 6 pm. This will affect access to and from the State Highway 1 urban motorway.
South Island:
- Work continues on chip sealing operations across the top of the South Island
- The Metservice has issued a heavy rain warning for the Tasman ranges northwest of Motueka from Saturday night through to Sunday afternoon. State Highway 60 and Tākaka/Golden Bay will be affected. Road users must drive to the conditions and be prepared for hazards such as slips and localised flooding. It is always a good idea to check road and weather conditions before travelling.
The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (from Saturday 2 December). Further details about regional state highway conditions and roadworks are also published on our website:
NOTE: Roadworks are dependent on weather and other factors. Bad weather can see work postponed to the next suitable night in the works programme.
The details in the PDF linked to below cover the period Saturday 2 December to Friday 8 December 2023.
