The right lane has now opened on the Northwestern Motorway (State Highway 16) after an earlier crash before the Rosebank Road off-ramp, however traffic remains heavy in the area.
The NZ Transport Agency says motorists should still expect long delays on the motorway heading home from the city towards the west and consider taking an alternative route.
The westbound lane will be closed again later tonight for repairs to the safety barrier which was hit during the crash.
