NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises that night works planned for the section of State Highway 3 (Sloane Street) at Te Awamutu between Vaile Street and Fraser Street, will now begin on Sunday 3 April.
The works were to have begun on Tuesday 29 March, but due to unforeseen circumstances have been delayed. The works will involve some lane closures each evening between 7pm and 6am from Sunday 3 April until Wednesday 6 April.
NZTA Regional Operations Manager Trevor Fearnley says the work is to enable the road to be resurfaced and install new road marking.
The new line marking will include a flush median, new parking on the eastern road side and removal of parking on the western road side.
"Some delays are possible while these works are undertaken, the road will remain open but with single lane stop/go traffic management in place. The NZTA thanks motorists for their patience."
This work is weather dependant and in the event of adverse weather it will be completed on the next suitable day.
