The NZ Transport Agency says the Neilson Street/Gloucester Park Road southbound on-ramp to the Southwestern Motorway (State Highway 20) will be re-opened at 7pm tonight (1 April) - 11 hours ahead of schedule.
The on-ramp has been closed over Easter to allow the utilities company, Vector, to complete maintenance work on a gas main under the on-ramp. It was due to be re-opened at 6am tomorrow (Tuesday).
The on-ramp will be re-opened in time for fans of the NZ Warriors returning home after tonight’s rugby league match against the Queensland Cowboys at Mt Smart Stadium. It is also a key link for people heading to Auckland International Airport.
The NZTA’s Regional Highways Operations Manager, Kathryn Musgrave, says the team working throughout weekend have done an exceptional job to get their work finished ahead of schedule.
“We’re delighted to have the on-ramp re-opened early, and the NZTA thanks drivers for the patience and support during the closure,” says Mrs Musgrave.
