UPDATE: Due to bad weather, the Hawke’s Bay Expressway works could not be completed in the scheduled time. Because of this, there will be further closures from 9am to 3pm between Tuesday 8 June and Friday 11 June. Details are as follows:
In the case of more bad weather, the work, (and therefore the lane closures), will be delayed up to Wednesday 16 June.
30 April 2021: Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising that the Hawke’s Bay Expressway will be undergoing essential maintenance from Monday 3 May to Friday 21 May which will require a number of lane closures. During this period, there will be lane closures from 9am to 3pm. Only one section and one lane will be closed at any time and detour routes will be in place.
From Monday 3 May to Wednesday 5 May, motorists can expect closures between Kennedy Road Overbridge to Flaxmere Ave.
From Thursday 6 May to Thursday 13 May, paintwork will be completed from Watchman Road to Longlands Roads.
In the case of bad weather, works will be postponed until the next fine day. All works, including any bad weather days, are expected to be completed by Friday 21 May.
Waka Kotahi acknowledges that this will cause some disruption to motorists and thanks everyone in advance for their patience and cooperation while this essential work is underway.
