The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists is calling for feedback on proposed safety improvements on SH44 at Moturoa.
NZ Transport Agency Regional Systems Manager Ross I’Anson says there have been 15 crashes on SH44 between Whiteley Street and Rainford Street since 2012, resulting in one serious injury and three minor injuries.
“Because this is such a busy area for both through traffic and shopping activity, there are challenges in designing both a safer intersection and pedestrian crossing, as well as ensuring traffic can move through the area easily.
“We’ve developed several options to improve safety, and together with New Plymouth District Council we want to get feedback from people in the community on what they think of the proposals.”
The options will be on display at the Opus Office at Level 1, 1 Liardet Street from 3 October to 13 October. A drop-in session will be held between 9am and 4pm on Friday 6 October 2017 at the Revival Hall, at the corner of Bayly Road and Breakwater Road, in Moturoa, where Transport Agency staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Consultation closes on Wednesday 1 November and the Transport Agency will use the feedback to help us decide on a preferred option so we can design and deliver the improvements this summer.
