The NZ Transport Agency’s Bailey bridge building team is onto the third span of the seven span bridge at the Waiho River, South Westland.
The teams on both sides of the river are still working towards reopening the Waiho River Bailey bridge in a week’s time, Friday, 12 April, says Pete Connors, System Manager for the Transport Agency.
The Transport Agency will be updating the timeframe at the end of this weekend, when it has a clearer idea of any delays and the old bridge spans have been fully removed.

Photos and daily timelapse video of the work underway are also available on our project page. The camera for the timelapse video is on the north side of the river but points across to the Bailey bridge construction side.
Both Franz Josef and Fox Glacier townships, as well as Haast, are open, welcome visitors, and people can still access the glaciers via helicopter/flight once they are there.
