The NZ Transport Agency says the Glen Murray Bridge at Rangiriri will be CLOSED for five days this month, as work on the Rangiriri section of the Waikato Expressway continues.
The closure will be in place from 7pm Friday, 20 November until 6am Wednesday 25 November, to allow the contractor to link the Glen Murray Bridge to the new Rangiriri Interchange Bridge.
A detour via Huntly will be in place for motorists who normally use the Glen Murray bridge, however this will add approximately 30 minutes to regular travel time.
The Waikato District Council will use the closure to carry out maintenance work on the Glen Murray Bridge to minimise any further disruption to motorists.
If there is wet weather, the closure will be postponed until the following Friday.
A 70km speed restriction is still in place on State Highway 1 (SH1) through the worksite at Rangiriri to ensure the safety of motorists and the expressway contractors.
The Transport Agency apologises for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience during the works.
