The NZ Transport Agency is advising Auckland motorists of significant motorway disruption this morning because of a fatal crash that’s closed State Highway 16 at Western Springs.
The crash happened this morning at 6:40am just after the St Lukes off ramp on the city bound side of SH16.
Police have closed the motorway to complete their investigation.
The closure is affecting commuter traffic on SH16 and SH18 and on SH20 via the Waterview Tunnel. Traffic is backing up in the tunnel and traffic on SH16 is backed up to Te Atatu.
The Transport Agency advises motorists to avoid the area and delay their journeys.
Vehicles already on the motorway can exit at the Western Springs off ramp and return to the motorway via the Western Springs on ramp. Using Great North Road is an alternative route.
The Transport Agency is doing all it can to assist police. Police have given no indication of when the motorway will reopen.
