Drive with care, expect delays and be alert for possible debris or surface flooding on the road.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is reiterating these safety messages to drivers throughout Tairāwhiti and Hawke’s Bay today as the rain continues to fall.
As at 10.30AM, all state highways remain open.
Crews are continuing to monitor the state highway network throughout both regions.
Sustained wet weather can cause some damage to the road, so please drive to the conditions while our crews are working on repairs.
‘It’s really important people continue to take care while driving throughout the regions and slow down, especially if they see flooding, debris or cones on part of the road,” says Martin Colditz, System Manager for Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti.
“Please take your time and be alert for the possibility of debris, surface flooding or fallen trees.
“Please also keep up to date with the NZTA Journey Planner in case there is a need for short notice closures or the need to implement lower speeds temporarily, through surface flooding.”
