The NZ Transport Agency has repaired a large tomo or sinkhole, which opened on State Highway 3, Devon Street in New Plymouth.
The emergency works were carried out in the early hours of this morning.
The crew who were working further down the road on the Vickers to Smart Rd re-surfacing project, were able to divert traffic from the left lane, traveling towards New Plymouth, while they filled and stabilised the sinkhole.
The Transport Agency would like to thank all road users for their patience while this emergency work was carried out.
NZTA Transport System Manager, Ross I’Anson, says the work was completed as quickly as possible to reduce the impact to morning traffic.
