Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises resurfacing works will take place in multiple locations around Whakatāne and Ōpōtiki Districts over the next two weeks.
These works are part of the Waka Kotahi spring/summer road maintenance programme, which will see repairs and reseals on state highways across the Bay of Plenty.
A 30km/h temporary speed limit will apply during the below works, which will take place between 7am and 7pm:
- SH2 Omaukoro Bridge, just north of Wairata Rd, Waioeka Gorge, between Ōpōtiki and Gisborne
Monday 8 March and Tuesday 9 March.
Stop/Go traffic management will be in place, with intermittent short-term road closures; possible delays of up to 20 minutes are expected.
Please note: There are other works scheduled to take place through the Waioeka Gorge next week and beyond. Road users should expect additional delays if travelling this route. - SH2 Woodlands Rd intersection, Ōpōtiki
Tuesday 9 March and Wednesday 10 March.
Stop/Go traffic management will be in place, with intermittent short-term road closures; possible delays of up to 20 minutes are expected.
For this site, the intermittent short-term closures are anticipated to be required only for the first half of each day.
- SH30 Rotoma Hills, between Rotorua and Awakeri
Thursday 11 March and Friday 12 March.
Stop/Go traffic management will be in place, with intermittent short-term road closures; possible delays of up to 20 minutes are expected.
- SH2 at Omeheu Rd and Gow Rd, between Matatā and Edgecumbe
