State Highway 30 is currently closed between Whakatane and Awakeri due to a serious crash.
The earlier detour via Te Rahu Rd, Selwyn Rd, Paroa Rd and Fortunes Rd and back onto SH30 has been updated to allow the rescue helicopter to access the area.
Motorists travelling east toward Whakatane should use Te Rahu Rd, Paroa Rd, Patuwai Rd and Mill Rd, before rejoining SH30. Traffic travelling west toward Awakeri should use the same route, in reverse.
