Detour on SH1 at Rangiriri from this weekend

|

The NZ Transport Agency says State Highway 1 traffic travelling south through the Waikato will be detoured off the highway at Rangiriri from Sunday while contractors carry out work on the Waikato Expressway.

The detour will be in place from 7pm on Sunday October 11 until 5.30am, and again from 7pm on Monday October 12 until 5.30am on Tuesday morning.

South-bound SH1 traffic will be detoured across the Glen Murray Bridge, onto Te Ohaki Road and over the Tainui Bridge at Huntly before rejoining SH1.

North-bound traffic will stay on the existing SH1 with a 30km/h speed restriction and stop/go traffic management.

This detour applies to ALL south-bound SH1 traffic - EXCEPT - HPMV, 50Max and Overweight permit holders.

HPMV, 50Max and Overweight vehicles are asked to travel through Rangiriri before 7pm or after 6am each day.

Those HPMV, 50Max and overweight vehicles that arrive at the site during the detour times will be stacked in a holding bay and managed through the site, however drivers should expect delays.

The detour is in place to allow contractors to carry out drainage and intersection work across SH1.

The Transport Agency apologies for any inconvenience caused and thanks people for their patience during the works.
