There will be a detour for night-time traffic south of Hamilton starting tonight 6 April.
The detour will affect southbound traffic only.
South-bound traffic on State Highway 1 and SH26 intersection at the Hillcrest roundabout to the Tamahere Interchange will be detoured from 9pm to 5am on the following dates:
While there are detours traffic management will be in place on SH21 at the Narrows Bridge for heavy vehicles.
Heavy traffic will be encouraged to take SH1b from Taupiri. Northbound traffic will not be affected.
The night detours will allow construction crews to complete testing and tie-ins for two new lanes to carry SH1 traffic and are part of the Hamilton section of the Waikato Expressway.
