State Highway 3 (SH3) in the Awakino Gorge, south of Awakau Road, will likely remain under stop/go traffic controls until this Friday (17 May).
A slip, which is blocking the southbound lane of SH3 south of Awakau Road, occurred on Sunday. Crews are currently working to clear it.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising drivers to expect delays of between 10-15 minutes through this site.
A geotechnical assessment of the site will be completed over the coming days, as crews continue to clear debris.

A stretch of State Highway 3 (SH3) at Awakino Gorge in Taranaki remains under stop/go traffic control following a slip that occurred yesterday (Sunday 12 May) on the southbound lane.
Crews are currently working to clear the slip which is blocking the southbound lane of SH3 south of Awakau Road.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising drivers to expect delays of between 10-15 minutes through this site. Traffic management will remain in place for the rest of the day and likely into tomorrow with delays expected during this time.
