Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists to expect delays on State Highway 1 (SH1) north of Wellington this afternoon and evening, due to emergency works by Wellington Water.
A wastewater main has burst on SH1 near Whitford Brown and crews are onsite carrying out emergency repairs.
This work requires one of the northbound lanes to be closed and will lead into peak traffic hours.
Waka Kotahi anticipates that this will impact on evening traffic, with queues expected to start south of Porirua.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to delay their journey or take an alternative route, if possible.
