Motorists travelling between between Taupo and Tokoroa can expect delays just north of Atiamuri on State Highway One for the rest of today.
The NZ Transport Agency advises that the road is down to one lane next to the Mangaharakeke Bridge while urgent repairs are carried out to fix a hole which has appeared in the road following recent rain in the area.
Kaye Clark, NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) State Highways Manager, says road contractors and traffic control measures are in place. "We would ask that motorists and holiday makers be patient, allow a little extra time to travel through the area for now and take note of the speed restrictions."
Mrs Clark says repairs are expected to be completed later this evening.
