Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises resurfacing works will take place on State Highway 35 Hawai, between Ōpōtiki and Te Kaha, on Friday 5 March 2021.
A 30km/h temporary speed limit will be in place with Stop/Go traffic management. Due to road width constraints, short full closures will be in place in both directions at times. Delays of up to 20 minutes are expected.
These works are part of the Waka Kotahi spring/summer road maintenance programme, which will see repairs and reseals on state highways across the Bay of Plenty.
There will be works at multiple locations around Whakatāne and Ōpōtiki districts over the next two weeks.
In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may be postponed. Visit the interactive Waka Kotahi Journey Planner website(external link) for the latest information on roadworks, traffic, road closures and detours to help plan your trip.
Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.
