Road users in the top of the South Island need to be aware of two crashes, one on State Highway 1 and the other on State Highway 6, that will affect travel in Marlborough and Tasman.

State Highway 1 near Dashwood is now fully open following a truck crash earlier today.
The grape spill has now been cleaned up. However, there will be warning signs in place over the holiday weekend as drivers will need to drive carefully through the crash site.

State Highway 1, Marlborough:
State Highway 1 near Dashwood is now open under stop/go traffic management following a truck crash earlier today.
The crash, which blocked two lanes, involved a truck and trailer unit carrying grapes.
Waka Kotahi appreciates the closure has caused delays and disruption for road users in the lead-up to the Easter holiday weekend. However, the nature of the crash meant heavy lifting gear was needed to recover the truck and trailer. A thorough clean-up of the spill was also required to make the highway safe for traffic.
We want to thank drivers for their patience and cooperation. The site is subject to stop/go traffic control and a 30 km/hr speed limit. Because of this and queued traffic, travel delays will continue until congestion eases.
State Highway 6, Owen Junction:
State Highway 6 has reopened with the crash scene now cleared.

State Highway 1, Marlborough:
Emergency services and contractors are attending a truck and trailer crash that has blocked State Highway 1 near Dashwood, south of Weld Pass. The incident was reported shortly before eight o’clock this morning.
No local detours are available, and the highway is expected to be closed for several hours while the crash scene is cleared.
If travelling between Christchurch and Blenheim, drivers should delay their travel or use the inland route via Lewis Pass. This will add around two hours to travel times.
State Highway 6, Owen Junction:
Stop/go traffic controls are in place following a truck crash that occurred around five o’clock.
Efforts to clear the crash scene are ongoing and are expected to continue through this morning.
Drivers can expect delays when traveling through the area and should take extra care when driving through the crash site.
