Crash has closed SH7, Lewis Pass, Canterbury side - update 2.37pm: This highway has now reopened.

A crash 15 km west of Hanmer Springs has closed State Highway 7 after midday today. An update will be available at 2 pm on the NZ Transport Agency’s web site or via social media links.

There is no simple detour to this State Highway at this point. SH73 via Arthurs Pass is the other main route to the West Coast.
