The NZ Transport Agency is advising Wellington commuters to either car pool or travel by public transport tomorrow with several car-parking buildings in the CBD closed following Sunday's earthquake.
All highways are open, says the Transport Agency's Wellington Regional Performance Manager Mark Owen, however, with several car-parking buildings closed there is likely to be pressure on available facilities.
He says the Transport Agency's contractors have rigorously checked the condition of the state highway network's bridges and tunnels and is pleased to say no significant issues have been identified.
"Along with the Wellington City Council, we also have a team continuing to monitor the highways and local roads, and our transport operations centre in Johnsville is working 24/7 to manage the transport network throughout the region and beyond."
