The NZ Transport Agency is inviting people to a public information day in Whangarei this Thursday (11 November) for updates on its current projects in Northland.
With the State Highway 1/Selwyn Avenue intersection upgrade in the nearing completion, the Transport Agency is shifting focus to the next stage of those improvements in the city, including the four laning between Wilson and Fourth Avenue, the Fourth Avenue link to Kauika Road. In the region’s south, there will be extensive safety improvements on the Brynderwyn Hill.
Work has now started on the safety improvements to the north side of the Brynderwyns, and the four-laning between Wilson and Fourth is due to start in the new year.
“Our Northland projects are helping create an environment which makes driving safer, and the risk of crashes lower,” says the Transport Agency’s Highway Manager Brett Gliddon. “In Whangarei our improvements will make it easier to get in and around the city. But we’re not just about roads: we’re also investing in walking and cycling and encouraging people to use alternative modes of transport,
“Our information day is an opportunity for us to keep the community involved and informed, and we hope to welcome as many people as possible on Thursday.”
The public information day will be held at the NZ Vikings Room at Toll Stadium, Okara Drive, between 3pm - 7pm.
