Public engagement on the State Highway 2 (SH2) Masterton to Featherston speed review and infrastructure improvements is underway from tomorrow.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is asking people for their feedback on speed limits along this section of SH2 and a number of infrastructure improvements, including two roundabouts at Ngaumutawa Road and Norfolk Road, safety barriers and 21 pedestrian crossings.
Director of Regional Relationships Emma Speight says the engagement sessions in Featherston, Greytown, Carterton and Masterton this week are a great opportunity for locals to have their say on how to make the state highway safer.
“We’ve got four events this week, starting in Featherston on Thursday evening, for people to come and chat with the project team about safety along the highway,” Ms Speight says.
“At the sessions we’ll be sharing technical advice on what is a safe and appropriate speed for a road, and will be looking to better understand how people use the roads and what other factors might influence the speed limits.”
There has been a venue change for the Featherston session, which will now be held at Featherston School Te Kura o Paetūmokai on Lyon Street. The time remains the same, from 3pm to 6pm.
