The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises motorists travelling along State Highway 29 (SH29), near the Ruahihi Power Station at Ōmanawa, to expect delays as work to repair the Ruahihi (Wairoa River) Bridge will start on Monday (29 July) for the entire week.
The work is to repair the bridge’s expansion joints which now need to be replaced.
The highway at this area will be reduced to one lane with traffic being managed through a manual stop/go operation during the day from 7.00am to 6.00pm.
A signal lane will be open at night time, but will be managed by traffic signals, drivers are advised to take care when through when driving through this construction area.
Delays are expected and drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time for their journey.
We thank motorists for their patience whilst this much needed repair work is being undertaken.
